The Foundation Board of Museo d’arte della Svizzera Italiana has published a call for applications for the position of new Director. Available on the Museum’s website, the call for applications will be open until the end of March.

The Foundation Board of Museo d’arte della Svizzera Italiana (MASI) has published a call for applications for the position of Director following current Director Marco Franciolli’s decision to plan on withdrawing from the institute.

The call for applications, available here, will be open until the end of March. The selection process will be conducted by the Fondazione MASI Scientific Committee, chaired by Carmen Gimenez, Senior Curator at Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York and composed of Gianna Mina, Director of Museo Vincenzo Vela in Ligornetto and President of the Swiss Museums’ Association; Anna Coliva, Director of Galleria Borghese in Rome; Josef Helfenstein, Director of Kunstmuseum Basel, and Max Hollein, Director of the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco. The Committee’s goal is to identify the most suitable candidate to support the growth of MASI. The selection process will be followed by the Foundation Board’s appointment of the new Director by the month of June. The appointment of the future Director will, compatibly with his or her prior commitments, go into effect in 2018.

For questions regarding the call for applications, please contact: T +41(0)91 8157971.

MASI Lugano
Museo d’arte della Svizzera Italiana in Lugano is the result of an intensive review of cultural policy, which has led to the unification of the Museo Cantonale d’Arte and the Museo d’Arte di Lugano, forming a single institute. The museum has two locations: 20th century and contemporary art and the museum’s permanent collections are on display at LAC, while Palazzo Reali illustrates the history of art in the area and focuses on specific parts of the museum’s collections.

MASI Lugano’s main partner is Credit Suisse, confirming its historic commitment to art in Lugano.
