Lismore Castle Arts is delighted to announce details of our 2015 exhibition in celebration of its tenth anniversary. Since the gallery opened it has worked with some of the world’s leading artists, curators and institutions.

An exhibition of works by artists who address relationships to the natural world, presenting the natural world as an ecological system that is co-extensive with a broad range of materials and concepts. The exhibition includes artworks, as well as plant life, wishful thinking, polystyrenes, a water-cooling system, and a host of other agents.
Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain is curated by Matt Packer in collaboration with CCA Derry~Londonderry.

For over 55 years, generations of students, staff and visitors at Trinity College Dublin have been introduced to the excitements and challenges of the contemporary visual arts through the activities and display of modern art collected for a picture hire scheme, known as “The College Gallery.” This exhibition explores the sense of wonder and excitement experienced by these students in the sixties.

Eddie Peake & Prem Sahib: Feel Up

Borne of ongoing collaborative conversations between Sahib and Peake, Feel Up extends from their performance Darkroom, first realized in October 2011, London. In a development of themes found in the Darkroom performance, Feel Up is a room installation of accompanying elements—a silent video is installed in relationship to a large wall sculpture, golden fronted and reflective, through which originally composed audio plays from in-built speakers. It is the first time either artist has exhibited in Ireland.
The Persistence of Objects

Presented as one exhibition across several venues, including locations beyond the Castle grounds, The Persistence of Objects creates a new way of experiencing Lismore through some compelling artworks, sited in the gallery and locations ranging from the imposing surroundings of St. Carthage Cathedral to a small, disused shop unit. The exhibition will comprise newly commissioned works, alongside new and existing works, and is conceived and curated for Lismore Castle Arts by The Common Guild, Glasgow.
Sean Lynch: Reverse Pugin!

Sean Lynch’s curated exhibition interrogates how landscape is constructed, improvised and bargained with. What are the attitudes at play that underpin human relationship to the environment, and how can allegory and narrative form be utilized to free us from the increasing neoliberal encounters that constrict such encounters? Particular references in the exhibition include tax-dodge building in Ireland, particular works of conceptual art, Pugin’s Catholic fundamentalism, antiquarian watercolours and more. Sean Lynch will represent Ireland at the 56th Venice Biennale.

Annual exhibition of works from the undergraduate degree shows across Ireland, selected by the Lismore Castle Arts curatorial team. The exhibition gives many of the artists their first exposure outside art school and in a gallery space that has shown many of the world’s leading artists. One of the artists will be awarded the LCA Graduate Prize.
About
Lismore Castle Arts was founded in 2005 with the aim of presenting and promoting internationally significant contemporary art to audiences in Ireland and beyond. It hosts major exhibitions alongside a series of smaller exhibitions, projects and events as well as a comprehensive education programme. The gallery has exhibited the work of artists such as Gillian Carnegie, Hans Josephsohn, Sherrie Levine, Richard Long, Jason Rhoades, Wilhelm Sasnal, Danh Vō and Ai Weiwei. In 2011 St Carthage Hall opened as a second exhibition venue for LCA. To date artists who have exhibited include Dorothy Cross, Camille Henrot, Roman Signer, TJ Wilcox and Corban Walker.
