International open call for Director at MACBA

The selection process opened on May 12 and candidates may submit their report-plan of the project for the Museum up until June 30.

The jury, consisting of Chris Dercon, member of the MACBA advisory committee; Alfred Pacquement, former director of the Centre Pompidou; Pepe Serra, director of the MNAC; Ignasi Aballí, artist; Emilio Álvarez, gallery owner; Xavier Antich, professor of philosophy; Jordi Sellas, representative of the Government of Catalonia; Llucià Homs, representative of the Barcelona City Council, and Ainhoa Grandes, representative of the MACBA Foundation, will perform an initial evaluation of the merits of each candidate, assessing their professional excellence, knowledge of and relationships within the international contemporary art world, knowledge of Catalan culture, as well as work and distinctions bearing witness to their professional career. In a second phase the committee of experts will carry out interviews and will submit and justify the proposals of three candidates to the General Council, who will appoint the person who will lead the MACBA.

Candidates must provide evidence of leadership skills, and the ability to manage and motivate the team working at the Museum will be highly valued. Also essential is the ability to represent the Museum in a wide range of areas and to build and develop a network of relationships.
