The June/July/August issue of frieze is out now.

Tom Morton visits award-winning artist Omer Fast on the set of his first feature film—an adaptation of Tom McCarthy’s novel Remainder. ‘McCarthy and I spent a weekend staring at the wall together, before creating a diagram of the book that looked like a Mark Lombardi painting. I folded this up, put it in my suitcase, and disappeared to write the script.’

The films of Eric Baudelaire are rooted in the artist’s collaboration with figures embroiled in contemporary political events. Ellen Mara de Wachter looks at issues of narrative and reality in the work of the Paris-based artist. ‘By wrestling with the stories of those who participated in revolution or are marked by trauma, Baudelaire proves that the principle of creative conflict is alive and well.’

Also featuring:
New York-based writer Andy Battaglia traces the life and myth of poet and mystic Lionel Ziprin, whose archive the sculptor Carol Bove now houses in her Brooklyn studio; the artist Liliane Lijn describes her cultural influences and creates a specially commissioned project for frieze; and noted poet Jeremy Sigler presents a selection of new and unpublished work by poets, including John Ashbery, Paul Chan and John Yau, whose writing is informed by visual art.

Columns & Reviews:
Robert Barry reviews three new artists’ publications by Cory Arcangel, Luke Fowler and Xu Bing. Plus exhibition reviews from around the world, including the Glasgow International; the Whitney Biennial, New York; the Bienniale of Sydney; and Hito Steyerl at Van Abbemuseum, Eindhoven.

Frieze Video:
No Such Thing as Writer’s Block: In our latest film, American poet and founder of UbuWeb, Kenneth Goldsmith tells us about ‘conceptual writing’ and poetry in the digital age.
