To celebrate its first 30 years, on December 18, 2014, the Museum offers an extraordinary day full of events to share.

SOSTIENEDEMOCRAZIA, from 10 in the morning until late at night, will schedule a collective palimpsest made up of performances, conferences, dance, theater, music, food and books. The entire day will be followed in streaming from web TV and social media. SOSTIENEDEMOCRAZIA is art-lovers, educational area, followers, clubtoclubbers, donors and explorers.

The fundraising dinner by Combal.Zero will be a support to the Museum for its activities.

The Castello di Rivoli’s experience is set in one of the cities that has best represented creativity, a desire for liberation, and an openness to culture in Italy, standing out over the years as a fundamental point of reference for the entire contemporary art system that has blossomed in other Italian cities as well as on the fertile terrain here in Turin.

A totally particular and unique museum, part of an architecture of great historic-artistic importance: the ancient Savoy residence right outside Turin, the dynasty’s first outpost on the peninsula, traversed by extraordinary historical events and where Juvarra’s worksite has remained “open.” The great unfinished Rivoli, the dream and obsession of the King of Sardinia has once more reclaimed its own role as a worksite, as an open place aimed at dialogue and cultural dynamism, a privileged observatory onto the vast and advanced international cultural context. Laden with evocations, perspectives, and aperture, with its two-fold purpose as historical venue with a contemporary vocation that the Museum has proposed since the day it inaugurated, on December 18, 1984, with Ouverture

Thanks to this 30-year challenge, it is important to remember here the shared vision with many artists, the help and courage of public institutions, of private sponsors and art enthusiasts as well as the dedication of those who have guided the Museum and the work of others who have supported it through the years. The Castello di Rivoli has known how and been able to host, as of today, 167 exhibitions, including solo and group shows, with 187 publications, presenting the works of 1,982 artists, and thus bequeathing to future generations and art history a cultural heritage that belongs to everyone and thereby making a place of reflection open and, therefore, risky. We have accepted, as the city must also accept, the challenge of being a key player for both Italian and international cultural events by offering this peculiar venue which speaks of ancient history as well as modern-day provocations, aimed at the future and confident in its own incompleteness that constantly searches for “architects and masons,” infinite completions, additions and dialogues, passions and proposals. Thirty years ago, the Castello was born with this spirit, from a forward-looking idea, and today, stronger and with its own history, it may become a promoter even more for the recognition of contemporary art in this country, with its role in proposing ideas. This is my wish and that of the entire staff at our and your Museum.
