İstanbul Museum of Modern Art collaborates with Netherlands’ world famous Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen in order to celebrate 400 years of diplomatic relations between Netherlands and Turkey. The collaboration of two museums results in two exhibition projects, La La La Human Steps to be opened in İstanbul and İstanbul Modern-Rotterdam to be organized at Rotterdam.

Sjarel Ex, the director of Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen, made a special selection for İstanbul Modern from among more than 140,000 works in their collection to be featured in La La La Human Steps exhibition that will take place at İstanbul Modern on February 16–May 6. La La La Human Steps focuses on human relationships. It revolves around the individuals’ desire to find answers for their own personal problems, while questioning people’s ways of interaction on public realm. With the participation of masters of contemporary art such as Bruce Nauman, Vito Acconci and Cindy Sherman, together with international artists of worldwide reputation such as Aernout Mik, Yang Fudong, Inez van Lamsweerde, Anri Sala, and Cyprien Gaillard, the exhibition will include 53 works by 28 artists from different periods and places.

Then, on March 10–June 3, İstanbul Modern-Rotterdam, which aims to present prominent examples of contemporary art in Turkey to the European audience, will be opened by İstanbul Modern at Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen.

The latest of the exhibitions organized by İstanbul Modern in leading cities of the world since 2009, this project defines İstanbul as a new focal point for contemporary art, and deals with dynamics of transformation and change of contemporary art in Turkey from 90s to this day. The exhibition presents works of artists who represent contemporary art in Turkey on an international scale such as Nil Yalter, Sarkis, İnci Eviner, :mentalKLİNİK and Ayşe Erkmen, and is curated by Levent Çalıkoğlu, the chief curator of İstanbul Modern.
