After the successful first edition of bâlelatina 2006, the international fair of contemporary art opens its doors in the city of Basel next summer at the same time as Art Basel.

bâlelatina wants to establish a cultural and commercial field where the most outstanding collectors, curators, journalists and public will meet to enjoy and evaluate the best Latin Art. The Selection Committee and the curatorial adviser for this edition, Osvaldo Sánchez, have devoted every means in choosing the thirty nine (39) participating galleries.

Latin American galleries from Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, Peru, Venezuela; European galleries from Spain, France, Italy and Portugal along with some German and Swiss galleries compose the cast for this year.

On this second edition of bâlelatina we have extended our exhibition space considerably, adding a tent to the premises of the Brasilea Foundation, in the harbor of the city.

bâlelatina also presents Special Projects outdoors: Vigilantes by the Spanish artists Martin & Sicilia and a site specific intervention on the portuary crane by Mexican artist Raymundo Sesma.

The fair has the invaluable support of the Friends of bâlelatina. This year we also count with the institutional alliances of the Fundación/Colección Jumex and the Secretaría de Cultura del Gobierno del Distrito Federal, Mexico and the support of Mercedes-Benz and the trains company Sbb Cargo, Switzerland.

bâlelatina welcomes you to this important appointment with contemporary art and hopes to reaffirm its presence and complementary function to the already vibrant international art scene.
