SCULPTURES IN THE PARK is a work in progress that regularly enriches the Park of Villa Manin with site specific installations created by international artists.

This year, besides mantaining six spectacular works from last year, the Centre for Contemporary Art of Villa Manin has commissioned two more installations which, freely inspired by the theme of the game, will offer to the visitor opportunities for observation, interaction and discovery.

Artistic director Francesco Bonami and curator Sarah Cosulich Canarutto invited Pawel Althamer and Michael Beutler to realise their new projects in the Park of Villa Manin.

With The House Pawel Althamer explores one of the most remote areas of the garden reclaiming an abandoned structure, half hidden by the thick vegetation. The house becomes a magical place reminiscent of the fantasy universe of fairy-tales and tells a different story to each one of us. The setting, the objects and the drawings hanging on the walls refer to the invisible presence of the artist, whose identity merges with the one of the viewer. By entering the intimacy of an apparently private sphere, every visitor can reactivate the environment and transform it into a familiar and unique territory.

With Manin City Michael Beutler has created a big maze inspired by the tradition of Baroque gardens, by their complex games and playful scenery. Adopting forms and motifs from the vast architectural complex of the former Doges residence, Beutler creates a new social space, a place of encounter and interaction. Invited to enter and experience the disorientating installation, the spectator finds himself inside a modern reinterpretation of one of the oldest games in history.
In the parks are also present works by: Alberto GARUTTI, Gabriel OROZCO, Paola PIVI, Andreas SLOMINSKI, Rirkrit TIRAVANIJA, Patrick TUTTOFUOCO
