Potsdamer Straße 2, 10785 Berlin

Poor Mans Expression presents works which, in a conceptual approach, take up the question of the possibility of illustration through technological systems. One question at hand is how, with limited means and small interventions poor therefore to evade the conditions of representation in this system. Another is how a changing technological and representational term can find expression in artistic work.

Central to Poor Mans Expression is an object created through the collective contributions of the artists, an object that makes reference to both the architecture of the space Arsenal, Sony Center, Potsdamer Platz as well as to the status of the Kino Arsenal as a forum for experimental film. The exhibition is based on a symmetrical division. It consists of two colorfully lit spaces that are connected to each other, something between White Cube and Black Box. Works by one of the artists can be seen in each of the spaces, which have a relationship of similarity or symmetricality to each other.

A reference here is Experimental Film: Screenings and performances will augment the exhibition throughout the month of May with selected historical experimental works, from the Archive of the Freunde der deutschen Kinemathek.

The exhibition was conceived by Florian Zeyfang and Martin Ebner and was created in collaboration with the archive of the Freunde der Deutschen Kinemathek and arsenal experimental. Funded by the Hauptstadtkulturfonds.
