Portikus in Frankfurt am Main is moving into a new space in the spring of 2006. Designed by architect Christoph Mäckler, the new building is located on a small island (the so-called Maininsel) in the river Main at the very heart of the city. During the first year in the new venue, the Portikus will realize projects by artists Francis Alÿs, John Baldessari, Paul Chan, Olafur Eliasson, Judith Hopf together with Henrik Olesen, Paulina Olowska, Dan Perjovschi, Marjetica Potrc together with Tomas Saraceno, and a show curated by Michael Krebber.

Olafur Eliassons light lab, located in the buildings large glass roof and visible only from the outside, will be in operation already in April. The first exhibition in the space, with new works by Marjetica Potrc and Tomas Saraceno, opens May 5, 8 pm.

In collaboration with Phillips de Pury & Company, Portikus organizes a charity auction at the fine art fair frankfurt with works by artists associated with the Portikus and with the Städelschule Art Academy. The auction takes place on March 17, 6 p.m., hall 9.
