ART FORUM BERLIN wishes you a splendid 2006 and invites you to its next edition

Berlin at its Best: The 11th ART FORUM BERLIN
After record results in its anniversary year 2005, ART FORUM BERLIN is proud to invite you to its 11th edition, starting Europes autumn season in late September. The fair, the catalyst of Berlins vibrant art scene, will take place from 29 September (Opening) to 4 October, 2006. Showcasing the most vigorous and captivating art of today, ART FORUM BERLIN presents the highest hopes of the international art scene and offers its audience the latest works of celebrated international stars as well as an abundance of new talents on view at the fair.

ART FORUM BERLIN 2006 again takes place in the spacious daylight halls 18 to 20 at the Berlin Fairgrounds, offering ideal conditions for its acclaimed and trendsetting hallmarks: Extraordinary stand concepts, exclusive artists’ conceived lounges and the AFB Talks, addressing significant issues of the international art scene. For the third time, ART FORUM BERLIN will also feature a curated special exhibition: City Lights points out Berlins exceptional position as an art lab for artists from all over the world. Supported by Hauptstadtkulturfonds (Capital Culture Fund), works of up to 40 artists will be shown in a special setting, adjacent to the regular alphabetical circuit of the galleries, in which 110 international galleries will show a striking overview of contemporary art.

Art lovers are invited to join special programs starting already 28th September, 2006 with the opening of Projections in contemporary art works since 1960 curated by Stan Douglas, Chris Eamon, Joachim Jaeger and Gabriele Knapstein at Berlin’s Hamburger Bahnhof – Museum of Contemporary Art, followed on the 29th by the Preview of ART FORUM BERLIN, the opening of the exhibition Felix Gonzalez-Torres and the formulation of art in the 90s curated by Frank Wagner of ngbk also at Hamburger Bahnhof on the 30th and insights of Berlins Jewish cultural life around Yom Kippur holiday in the beginning of October.

But there is even more, the city will be overflowing with a plenitude of exhibitions during ART FORUM BERLIN, such as the comprehensive thematic exhibition Berlin-Tokyo at Neue Nationalgalerie, ATLAS GROUP/ Walid Raad at Hamburger Bahnhof, solo shows of Via Lewandowsky at Neuer Berliner Kunstverein and Valerie Favre at Haus am Waldsee while Sylvie Fleury and Shilpa Gupta will be presented at DaimlerChrysler Contemporary. Cai Guo-Qiang, famous for his gunpowder works and one of Chinas renowned artists will show his latest settings at Deutsche Guggenheim Berlin and KW – Institute for Contemporary Art will present another highlight of the autumn season, the exhibition Into me out of me curated by Klaus Biesenbach of MoMA, exploring artistic works starting from the late 1960s and 1970s which are dealing with basic physiological processes of the human body.

All of this makes ART FORUM BERLIN 2006 once again a prominent and essential international event in early autumn for collectors, curators and lovers of contemporary art.
