“…its combination of intimacy, fresh information and rough edges will give you a view of the grass roots of the art world that is available nowhere else.”
-The New York Times

-scope Art Fair Inc. is pleased to announce that the first annual -scopeLondon will take place from Friday, October 15 through Monday, October 18, 2004, at the four-star Melia White House hotel, located on Albany Street, next to Regent’s Park and the Frieze Art Fair.
-scopeLondon will display art in a new and fresh light as each exhibitor presents one-person and thematic group shows in the intimate and relaxed rooms of a London hotel. Building on the successes of -scopeMiami, -scopeNewYork and -scopeLosAngeles, -scopeLondon will feature over 50 world-class galleries, curators and non-profit organizations, exhibiting emerging, innovative artists.

As part of -scopeLondon a series of special events has been planned which will include a VIP and Press Brunch, and the third -scopeCircle Committee’s group exhibition of emerging artists (the last curated exhibition took place at Christie’s during -scopeLos Angeles 2004). Cinema-scope will present its film and video program that will be screened at next year’s Sundance Film Festival, and -scopeSound will showcase local emerging music.
Culture on the Verge, the Friday opening night party, kicks off at 9pm. Festivities will take place in the exhibitors’ rooms and throughout the Melia White House hotel until 2am. -scopeTV’s very own LaLa Panzeroff will lead revelers on a red carpet journey into the untamed art world

In addition, the first -scopeLondon Emerging Artist Grant and Independent Curator Award will be chosen. Past recipients include: Christian Holstad, Daniel Gordon, Monika Bravo and Jeff Hatfield.

-scope Art Fair – The mission of -scope (www.scope-art.com) is to demystify the buying process of contemporary art. -scope accomplishes this by producing international art fairs of cutting-edge art and emerging culture. The fairs bring together up-and-coming dealers, curators and artists in a relaxed atmosphere. In this way, -scope makes itself an invaluable resource for established and burgeoning collectors as well as museums, corporate curators and the general public.
