Art New York, The New Contemporary Fair, Makes its Debut

Javits Galleria, NYC

Welcome to the debut of Art New York, where you are invited to
discover an accessible array of works on paper, painting, photography, sculpture and
objects. Art New York promises to be an intimate fair whose
purpose is to link art enthusiasts with both young and established galleries. The
exciting new art event will be held in the Javits Galleria, overlooking
the Hudson River and just steps away from the world-renowned Chelsea
gallery district. The show opens with an invitation-only Preview on
Thursday, February 27 and continues through Monday, March 3, 2003.

Our 38 exhibitors hail from 12 countries–an extraordinary international
mix for a new fair–and many are participating in their first New York
show. We are especially pleased to present the Currents section, modeled
after its popular and successful namesake at Art Miami for the past four
years. Currents, which features young, emerging artists, is intended to
provide visitors with an exciting perspective of local and international
trends.

Art New York kicks off on Thursday, February 27, with an
invitation-only opening reception and preview from 5:30 to 9:30 pm. Exposition hours are
from 11am to 7pm on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, and 10am to 2pm on
Monday, March 3, the show’s closing day. Art New York is
open to the public. Daily admission prices are $12 general admission, $9 for
students, seniors and groups; children under 12 are admitted free.
