FOR ONE WEEKEND ONLY
NEW ART COMES TO MIAMI

New York City (November 27, 2001) FAST FWD: MIAMI, a ground-breaking collaborative effort bringing together artists selected by innovative contemporary art galleries from all over the world, will open Friday,
December 14 at The Hotel Nash, 1120 Collins Ave. in Miami Beach.
(305) 674-7800

FAST FWD: MIAMI is open to the public on Friday and Saturday from 12 7 p.m. and on Sunday from 12 6 p.m. Admission is $5.

Following the postponement of the highly anticipated Art Basel Miami, Laura Sheridan, of The Hotel Nash, presented Laurie De Chiara of DeChiara Gallery in New York City with the opportunity to use the hotel in the hopes of creating a different event for art patrons.

Realizing it would require a collective effort, the idea was shared with consultants, gallerists and collectors. Janet Phelps of Debs & Co., who organized Meat Market Art Fair last year, an alternative art fair in New York City, and Sheldon LaPierre, a private dealer and curator, were asked to head the efforts of making FAST FWD: MIAMI a reality. We saw a possibility for younger galleries and their artists to converge and share ideas. We initiated FAST FWD: MIAMI to bring a community of resourceful and imaginative artists and galleries into Miami,” Phelps said.

FAST FWD: MIAMI participants include: Arena, Bellwether, Bodybuilder & Sportsman Gallery, Kevin Bruk Gallery, Bucheon, Catherine Clark Gallery, Debs & Co., DeChiara Gallery, Müller DeChiara, Laurant Delaye, Finesilver, Caren Golden Fine Art, Galeria Enrique Guerrero, Inman Gallery, Law Office, Monique Meloche Gallery, Galeria Espacio Minimo, Rare, Roebling Hall, Zinc

Curated Rooms: Omar Lopez-Chahoud, Gean Moreno, Franklin Sirmans

The event is sponsored by The Hotel Nash, Starwood Urban Investments Project for the Arts and JetBlue.
