As of January 1, 2018, the General Assembly of steirischer herbst festival gmbh is hiring a Festival Director for the duration of five years.
 
The Festival Director is solely responsible for drawing up the programme of the annual multidisciplinary festival of contemporary art, and management of steirischer herbst festival gmbh on his or her own responsibility with the due care of a prudent businessperson.

The succesful candidate will have knowledge of art with experience in a wide range of disciplines of art; organisational, commercial skills and several years of—international—experience managing a cultural organisation; experience in conceiving, planning and carrying out festivals; strong affinity for contemporary art; comprehensive knowledge of the regional, national and international culture and event industry; very good regional, national and international networking with artists as well as art and cultural facilities; excellent communication skills, particularly with regard to the media and public, and negotiating skills with artists and other art and culture facilities.
 
steirischer herbst is a multi-genre festival that submits new contemporary productions to (interdisciplinary) discussion every year. The core traits of steirischer herbst are the networking of different disciplines of art (theatre, visual arts, film, literature, dance, music, architecture, performance, new media, and theory) and its self-image as a productive festival (original works, premières and commissioned works). It is interested in presenting local art as well as scientific theory and practice in confrontation with international contributions. With regard to programming, steirischer herbst also aims to focus its attention on the East and South-East on the European map. A declared goal of steirischer herbst is to carry out the majority of events in the city of Graz and in the regions of Styria.
