The Fondazione Prada is pleased to announce the opening, on May 31, 2011, of its new exhibition space in Venice, the Ca’ Corner della Regina, an historic palazzo on the Grand Canal. Belonging to the Comune di Venezia, the building was made available by the Fondazione Musei Civici, which oversees its use and administration, for a period of six years with the option of renewal documenting the multiple activity of the Fondazione Prada.

After years of telling others’ stories, the Fondazione Prada will now tell its own. This is not by any pre-conceived, planned or controlled design, but on the occasion provided when the Fondazione Musei Civici di Venezia put Ca’ Corner della Regina at Fondazione Prada’s disposal. It is an invitation for the Fondazione to place itself in a historical context, to contemplate and exhibit an artistic and cultural itinerary that, since its beginnings in 1993, has left deep traces behind and today aspires to make more leading into the future.

The exhibition “Fondazione Prada_Ca’ Corner della Regina” curated by Germano Celant, is composed of sections linked to the present and future activities of the foundation, including the collection of artworks, the architectural and restorative work conducted on the eighteenth-century Venetian palazzo hosting the exhibition, and special projects realized in collaboration with international museums. The various projects, which have been carried out together with architects, artists and curators, have created an artistic and scientific dialogue with the architectural features of the palazzo and established an innovative exhibition space.
