Exhibitions: October 5, 2008–February 1, 2009 Exhibition: A Story of Photography: The Marjorie and Leonard Vernon Collection Ahmanson Building, Level 1 LACMA is proud to announce the acquisition of the Marjorie and Leonard Vernon Collection of outstanding historical photographs. Thanks to the generosity of the Annenberg Foundation, highlights from the collection, including works by Roger Fenton, Gustav Le Gray, Edward Weston, Imogen Cunningham, Ansel Adams, Paul Strand, and Edward Steichen, will be on view, in a tribute to local collectors Marjorie and Leonard Vernon. October 26, 2008–March 1, 2009 Exhibition: Vanity Fair Portraits: Photographs 1913–2008 Hammer Building, Level 2 (Plaza) The first major exhibition to explore the ways in which photography and celebrity have interacted and changed, with portraits from Vanity Fair‘s early publishing period (1913–1936) displayed alongside contemporary examples from the magazine’s archive (1982–present). This exhibition examines the values, styles, and technologies that have defined both epochs of celebrity and magazine culture.
