Electrohype 2008 will present work by following artists: Doug Back, Canada Ralf Baecker, Germany Kerstin Ergenzinger, Germany Serina Erfjord, Norway Jessica Field, Canada Voldemars Johansons, Latvia Diane Morin, Canada Kristoffer Myskja, Norway Erik Olofsen, Netherlands Bill Vorn, Canada The Electrohype biennial 2008 will introduce 14 artworks from 10 different artists, all presented in a 1200 square meter space at Malmö Konsthall. For this years biennial we have chosen works that in a unique way are complex in their own small universes – and makes us think about what we often takes as given. The biennial holds a common theme about time and ongoing processes. In the exhi-bition the viewer invites to experience works that are independent machines slowly working in a methodical way, alongside with objects and lights that are animated with, for example, motors and yet others controlled via mathematical rules. A number of the works shows on a change in our perception of time or of our physical existence. Kessler observes and examines societies and social struc-tures through interventions and recordings in urban spaces. Kessler intervenes as a blue-collar worker in the city’s infrastructure and looks at how people act in different social spaces.Sometimes Kessler repairs broken clocks, trims a tree or repaints a sign as a good citizen would do. At other times he does the opposite by turning off streetlights, making bullet holes in street signs, lifting waste bins to basketball height and setting clocks back. Most often these actions are documented and presented as videos or photographs. At Malmö Konsthall Leopold Kessler will present both videos and photographs from 2005 to 2008. Furthermore, two installations will be installed in public spaces in Malmö and one work can be experienced at Lund Konsthall. Leopold Kessler was born in Munich, Germany in 1976, lives and works in Vienna, Austria.
