On October 7, 2006, Fang Lijuns solo exhibition will kick off the opening of Today Art Museum, Beijings first non-governmental not for profit art museum.

Today Art Museum, located in the CBD, boasts advanced facilities and focuses on Chinas art development with a modern art vision. The use of the new building represents a step towards connecting Today Art Museum with the world. It is also a historically important moment for Chinas non-governmental not for profit art museums.

Fang Lijuns solo exhibition will be his largest to date. An oil painting spanning 35 meters in length, which took the artist over three years to complete, is going to be shown to the public for the first time. The exhibition will feature about one hundred works. Among them are many newly completed works, including oil paintings, prints and statues. All represent the achievement of Fang Lijuns latest exploration in art.

The museum space, designed by architect Wang Hui and large-scale landscape installation by artist Wang Jianwei made especially for Today Art Museum, are going to be unveiled to the public as well. Wang Jianweis work, made from special materials, will be placed atop the museum to complement Wang Huis design. The combination will not only highlight the museums modern style, but also fuse with the local surroundings to create a more humanitarian environment. We believe the new building will become a cultural landmark of Beijing.
