Grey Art Gallery First Wednesday Salons February 4 and March 3, 2004, 6-8 pm Grey Art Gallery, NYU 100 Washington Square East New York City http://www.nyu.edu/greyart Please join us on February 4 and March 3, 2004 for the Grey Art Gallery’s “First Wednesday Salons,” informal gatherings held from 6 to 8 pm on the first Wednesday of each month that the gallery is open to the public. Diane Arbus: Family Albums sheds new light on the working process of the extraordinarily influential American photographer Diane Arbus (1923-1971). The exhibition features over 50 black-and-white photographs along with 57 contact sheets by the artist, a large number of which have never before been publicly exhibited. The first museum show devoted to her work since her posthumous retrospective in 1972, Diane Arbus: Family Albums reveals Arbus’s fascination with the complex and often contradictory notions of “family” that surfaced during the turbulent 1960s. Diane Arbus: Family Albums remains on view through March 27, 2004. For more information, call 212/998-6780 or e-mail greygallery@nyu.edu.
