Keen on finding the missing link between Baldessari’s pure beauty and Deleuze’s theory of the anomalous? Or perhaps argue that Matta-Clark’s building intersections can be twice as fun if you’re reading an essay on MACBA’s pristine building? Or maybe just create a playlist of all the MACBA’s mp3 lectures you are planning to listen this weekend… Either way, when it comes to the Itineraries it’s really up to you to curate, collect, and provide the meta-reading on MACBA’s rich digital heritage.

Itineraries are one of the key features in MACBA’s new website: they’re collections of content available at www.macba.cat, as chosen by you under any given concept. Each Itinerary enables you to collect whatever content under an initial concept or idea, be it a “Top 10 favourite MACBA exhibitions,” a re-reading on the International Situationism or an homage to Richard Hamilton.

You can assemble, save, and share specific routes to navigate through the Museum’s online database of over 180 books, 50 video interviews, 350 mp3 lectures, guided tours, podcasts, 194 exhibitions, and 7000+ works in the Collection and Archive. Once you’re done, it’s also up to you to decide whether you want to share your Itinerary or keep it private, present it onscreen or just download it and carry it around on you tablet or cellphone.

Itineraries are open for anyone! Be it someone with an interest in MACBA’s heritage, teachers preparing a visit with their students, curators who want to provide a rich digital companion for an exhibition, or artists that wish to relate their work to that of others. Whether produced by anonymous users or museum collaborators, this much we know: Itineraries will allow us to revisit the museum’s heritage with a fresh perspective. Your perspective.
