The November program opens with the world premiere of Jean-Luc Godard’s Moments choisis des Histoire(s) du cinema and the New York premiere of Abbas Kiarostami’s Five, sublime and challenging works by masters who take film in daringly new directions. Xan Cassavetes’s Z Channel: A Magnificent Obsession also premieres in New York, as do feature films by Manfred Kirchheimer, Ulrike Ottinger, and Raphael Nadjari.
December’s program introduces three eagerly anticipated theatrical films-Martin Scorsese’s The Aviator, Wes Anderson’s The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou, and Terry George’s Hotel Rwanda-and the New York premieres of films by Buddhadeb Dasgupta, Diao Yi’nan, Fridrik Thor Fridriksson, Marco Kreuzpaintner, Claude Miller, Joao Cesar Monteiro, Theo Angelopolous, Jonathan Nossiter, and Alexander Sokurov.
The series continues through January with more premieres encompassing the breadth, style, and diversity of contemporary film and media by artists worldwide, many of whom will introduce their work. Sign up for MoMA Film and Media E-News at www.moma.org or check www.moma.org/film for showtimes.
