The Fondazione Giuliani per l’arte contemporanea will open in Rome on 9th May 2010 with the exhibition Mutiny Seemed a Probability, curated by Adrienne Drake. Like many of the Foundation’s future activities, this exhibition will take the Giuliani Collection of contemporary art as a key point of departure to cultivate an examination and interpretation of the very process of collecting.

Mutiny Seemed a Probability suggests an act of upheaval, a subtle reaction to the past and present through minimal, almost imperceptible gestures of resistance, through uncertainty, which strive to overturn an apparently concrete existence.

Art works by Micol Assaël, Simon Dybbroe Møller, Cyprien Gaillard, Henrik Hăkansson, Mona Hatoum, Leslie Hewitt, Graham Hudson, Alicja Kwade, Jorge Peris, Manfred Pernice, Alessandro Piangiamore, Marco Raparelli, Natascha Sadr Haghighian, Gedi Sibony, Nedko Solakov, Oscar Tuazon and Jeff Wall loosely underscore an investigation of sculpture, materiality, fragility and ideological precariousness.

The Fondazione Giuliani will also present for the first time in Italy e-flux video rental, a project by Anton Vidokle and Julieta Aranda.

In September 2010, the Fondazione Giuliani will launch a series of solo exhibitions of young artists that either provide a comprehensive overview of the artist’s oeuvre to date, or in which the artist is invited to also select and display artworks from the Giuliani Collection, positioned as counterparts or complements to their own work. Group exhibitions with works culled from the Collection will unveil and underline common threads within the Collection itself.

The Fondazione Giuliani per l’arte contemporanea encourages the development of partnerships and collaborations with other institutions. Group and student visits are warmly welcomed and can be arranged by appointment.
