PAN | Palazzo delle Arti Napoli will join the leading contemporary art fair Artissima 13 (Turin Nov 9-12. 06) and will welcome the artists with PAN.archive[d], an action, a short circuit and a relation.

PAN.archive[d] is a metaphor that opens for the first time a museum permanent collection to artists of all the nationalities without filters. PAN.archive[d] mainly gives the occasion to debate on the role of public clients in art and museum politics in Italy.

The various origins of the word PAN are pretty unique and PAN.archive[d] a bit pirates these senses in order to let seize up in a new relation the public of the fair, the curators and the collectors, by fulfilling the best loved dream (PAN.dream) that is hidden in the heart of artists: see their artworks collected by a public institution.
PAN is the name of a Greek mythological divinity, half satire and half goat. Inspired by the naturalism of its myth and on the mistakes running on its name (PAN means also the whole), it was lately meant with the vital force that is in every thing, rather the symbol (or the creator) of the universe. PAN is also the acronym of very contemporary objects as the Personal Area Networks.
PAN.archive[d] is a relation and a metaphor: it stands for the opening of the archive to artists of all nationalities.
On Artissima13, the PAN stand will be animated by a collective action and together an event, lead to encourage the donation of artworks by the coming artists to the PAN Multimedia Documentation Centre. Artists are invited to stand with an original or already presented work, that will be immediately collected by Documentation Center and exhibited on the PAN Stand at Artissima. The PAN stand is located on RED hall, where all the museums and art institutions are guest.
After the fair, the artists who join PAN.archive[d], will enter in the permanent collection of the Documentation Centre.

In order to permit the immediate archive action by PAN, artists are asked to present, either in digital and printed support, a project, a work or a performance with a title, information and cd/dvd stored data. The print could be presented in any support (paper, wood, forex, mdf, plexiglass), with a minimum size of 20X20 cm or its multiples.

Visitor of PAN stand, can also navigate the present database of the Multimedia Centre. After 2 years of activity, it contains 60 hours of audiovisual material, more than 4360 images and more than 2220 textual documents.

A cool and participative design will narrate the density of events guest in PAN together with the 5 research lines that lead the Documentation Centre. Artworks collected will be immediately exhibited into a grid, the heart of the exhibition. The grid will be the methapor of the PAN: it is the house of all the contemporary languages. With exhibits, events, film festival, it satisfies different kinds of public and is already a reference for international and national culture nets.

On Artissima13, PAN will also present the 1st International Forum on DOCUMENTATION AND CONTEMPORARY LANGUAGES that will take place in the superb venue of Palazzo Roccella (Naples/Italy) on December 14 15: video, seminars and research presentation lead by the main representatives of world contemporary museums and archives. The International Forum is free of charge and the work language is English/French/Italian (with simultaneous translation). Video sections and installations will animate the 3 floors of the museum with sessions from 10 am to 7 pm.
