The Renaissance Society is pleased to announce RENBEN2012, this year’s gala and art auction, celebrating Susanne Ghez’s remarkable 40 years of leadership. Driven by curiosity, intelligence, and a profound respect for the artist, Ghez’s work has had a lasting impact on Chicago and the larger arts community.

This year’s auction of over 60 works features a selection of artists Ghez championed early in their careers—including Robert Gober, Kerry James Marshall, Rebecca Morris, Matt Saunders, Yutaka Sone, Luc Tuymans, and Kara Walker. The auction will also introduce some of today’s most compelling international artists to Chicago, including Nina Beier (Denmark), Mathew Cerletty (New York), Edith Dekyndt (Belgium), Tomoo Gokita (Japan), Kaspar Müller (Switzerland), Henrik Olesen (Germany), Kostas Sahpazis (Greece), Janaina Tschäpe (Germany), and many more.

The online preview of the auction is now on view here. Advance bids are being accepted online or by phone at 773 702 8670 until Thursday, September 6, 2012, 5pm CST.

All proceeds from the auction support The Renaissance Society’s 2012–13 exhibition season.

For more information, please contact Lori Bartman, Director of Development, at 773 702 8670 or lbartman@renaissancesociety.org.
