Grazer Kunstverein is a nationally and internationally renowned exhibition venue for contemporary art. Since its establishment in 1986, Grazer Kunstverein has functioned as a place for production, curating and mediation in contemporary art. The aim is to promote and present recent artistic positions and to address questions around current cultural and political tendencies. As a place for production of recent art and intermediation, the Grazer Kunstverein plays an important role in Graz as well as in Austria and abroad. Due to a close cooperation with various institutions and universities, it has over recent years become a centre for artistic and cultural studies. The Grazer Kunstverein is not guided by populist demands, but advocates for the promotion and presentation of qualitative artistic experiments.

Our current director Krist Gruijthuijsen will be leaving by the end of September 2016 and we are now looking for a successor, effective October 1, 2016. We are searching for a creative personality who will assume responsible for both the artistic and administrative management of Grazer Kunstverein.

Requirements for your application are:
–a degree in art history or similar qualifications and an experience in working in and with contemporary art
–managerial experience
–excellent knowledge of the international art scene and the ability to discover new developments therein
–excellent networking with stakeholders and institutions at different levels—a vision for the future program of Grazer Kunstverein
–management experience in the professional art exhibition context, including personnel management
–strong communication and mediation skills and the ability to run a complex institution responsibly, efficiently and strategically
–experience in securing project-specific, third-party funding as well as business management skills including budget planning and monitoring
–keen interest in the arts and culture scene of Graz and its region and a willingness to cooperate with other institutions

This is a full-time position. Essential to this position is a permanent place of residency in Graz. Spoken and written German is preferred but not obligatory.

We look forward to receiving your CV and motivation letter by February 15, 2016 by sending it to Dr. Tanja Gurke: tg [at] grazerkunstverein.org

Grazer Kunstverein is structurally supported by the city of Graz, the Austrian Federal Ministry for Education, Art and Culture, the province of Styria, Legero | con-tempus.eu, and its members.
