Index – The Swedish Contemporary Art Foundation seeks a new director or curatorial team to lead the operations of Index starting in the fall of 2014. Index is a non-profit exhibition space, celebrating 40 years in 2014. Index is a private foundation with a board that holds ultimate responsibility. Among the financiers are the Swedish Art Council, the Municipality of Stockholm and Stockholm County Council. Index is an ambitious institution with a strong position both nationally and internationally. Since 2006 Index has been located at Kungsholmen in central Stockholm.

The new director will ensure that the programme remains at the forefront of contemporary art practice. Leading a dedicated team, the Director position will be required to conceive and execute the public programme at Index, representing the gallery both internally and externally, while also developing a long-term strategy for Index. The post is a full-time position.

Application and qualifications
The new director position should have extensive and documented experience of working within the contemporary art field as well as a broad international network. The position requires excellent leadership skills and ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, an artistic vision for Index and the responsibility for long-term financing.
