MUSEION, the museum of modern and contemporary art of Bolzano seeks a Director Museion is managed by the Foundation Museion, established by the Autonomous Province of Bolzano and the Museion Association. The mission of the Foundation Museion is to collect, conserve, research, present and mediate contemporary art. The Foundation aims to be a point of encounter for international art and the official venue for the promotion of contemporary art in South Tyrol. The successful candidate will • be required to begin the appointment, with responsibility for directing the institution and all its activities, as soon as possible, in the course of 2011; • be responsible not only for the artistic direction of the museum, but also its general management, financial status and external relations, including sourcing private funding; • establish the general programme and strategic measures for the development of the institution, according to the guidelines established by the Foundation’s Governing Board; • be responsible for the quality of the museum’s exhibitions, activities, marketing and services, as well as external communications and those with the museum’s various partners and public and private bodies; • be supported by an administrative director. The successful candidate will fulfil the following requirements: • management experience in the arts • perfect knowledge of the international art scene and a vast network of international contacts • team leadership experience • fluency in the two official languages of the South Tyrol area: Italian and German • fluent English • excellent communication and social skills This appointment is initially awarded for four years unless extended.
