Performances by The Feelies, Stephen Malkmus, and The Raincoats

The Kitchen is proud to honor two legendary artists, Kim Gordon and Dan Graham, whose legacies extend to when Graham—a friend living in the same building as Gordon on the Lower East Side during the 1970s—encouraged her to write and asked her to perform in his work Performer/Audience/Mirror, inadvertently setting off her career in music.

Both would appear at The Kitchen in subsequent years. Celebrating Gordon and Graham with special performances here will be The Feelies and The Raincoats—both of whom performed at The Kitchen in 1982, the same year as Gordon’s Sonic Youth—and Stephen Malkmus.

For the occasion, Raymond Pettibon has created a limited-edition benefit portrait inspired by his cover for Sonic Youth’s Goo. Proceeds from the sale of this print will support artists whose groundbreaking work appears at The Kitchen during the year ahead.
