First we make the rules, then we break the rules
At Charlottenborg, we proudly present this exhibition featuring two artists of major significance for the present times, whose works, each in their different ways, treat cartography as visual material. The exhibition is curated by Elodie Evers and Magdalena Holzhey from Kunsthalle Düsseldorf, and the exhibition at Kunsthal Charlottenborg has been augmented by an additional seven works. The exhibition consists of collages, prints, drawings, and sculptural objects.

A catalogue has been published with reproductions of several of the works from the exhibition; a foreword by the exhibition curators, Elodie Evers and Magdalena Holzhey; an interview with Simon Evans and essays by the American art critic and poet Raphael Rubinstein, and by the Danish art historian and PhD candidate at Yale University Maibritt Borgen.

The exhibition is supported by Statens Kunstråd (the Danish Arts Council).

MFA Degree Show 2013
Kunsthal Charlottenborg and the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts’ Schools of Visual Arts are pleased to present the MFA Degree Show 2013, which is the first exhibition jointly staged by the merged institutions. There are 36 graduates from the Schools of Visual Arts represented in the exhibition, and their works take in a wide range of visual media and artistic genres from video, graphics, painting, and performance to novels and opera. The graduates are distributed evenly across the Academy’s seven professor schools: the School of Painting, headed by Professor Anette Abrahamsson; the School of Sculpture, Charlottenborg, headed by Professor Martin Erik Andersen; The School of Graphic Arts, headed by Professor Thomas Locher; the School of Language, Space and Scale, headed by Katya Sander; the School of Media Art, headed by Professor Ann Lislegaard; Walls and Space, headed by Professor Nils Norman, and the School of Time-based Media, headed by Professor Gerard Byrne.

2013 Graduates:
Nanna Abell, Carsten Crone Caroc, Julie Damkjær, Malte Fisker, Ester Fleckner, Signe Frederiksen, Signe Kjølner, Katrine Würtz Hansen, Kasper Hesselbjerg, Sisse Holmberg, Sofie Holten, Casper Koch Hughes, Thomas Hyttel, Janus Høm, Kristina S. On the occasion of the MFA Degree Show 2013, a catalogue in the form of a text compendium has been published. Common to the texts is that they deal with the question of contemporary artistic production and its connection to subjects like philosophy, historiography, institutions and teaching. The publication is edited by Kasper Hesselbjerg, Signe Frederiksen, Signe Kjølner, and David Hilmer Rex.

POST
POST is an exhibition series for which the invited artists send the works and materials by regular mail. The staff at Kunsthal Charlottenborg is responsible for installing the exhibition following the artist’s enclosed instructions. The exhibition series started 1 February 2013, and we do the opening each month 4–6pm, where tea and cake is served to all visitors. The artists presented during summer are Zin Taylor (1–30 June), Sara MacKillop (1–31 July), and Camilla Wills (1–31 August).

Tournament d’objet
This project conceived by Henrik Plenge Jakobsen will occupy the entire courtyard in front of Charlottenborg, and the idea is to form an aesthetic framework giving the illusion of a knight tournament from the Middle Ages by transforming the courtyard into a place of struggle or contest between actions in the form of words, sounds and objects, and this way linking the historical and contemporary art.
