It’s large, light, yellow and suspended over the MAXXI piazza from 26 June 2013.
It’s the He installation by the studio bam! bottega di architettura metropolitan, winner of YAP MAXXI 2013, the programme promoting and supporting young architecture organized by MAXXI in partnership with MoMA/MoMA PS1 of New York, Constructo of Santiago de Chile and, for the first time, Istanbul Modern.
Lightness, transparency, innovation and flexibility are the characteristics of He that are capable of making the museum a place in which culture, fun and free time may converse. During the day, the perimeter of the prism drips water to ideally delimit the space beneath the volume and create a refreshing curtain for the public. The colour and the transparency of the material, contrasting with MAXXI’s external walls, donate surprising chromatic reflections that vary with the light over the course of the day.
The 20 projects by the finalists from the four international YAP network partners will be exhibited at MAXXI in the Carlo Scarpa Hall through to 20 October 2013. The model by the winners bam! bottega di architettura metropolitana will be on show together with those of the other four finalists, AKO-architettura a kilometro zero, LABORATORIO PERMANENTE, Matilde Cassani and LOOP Landscape & Architecture Design Network.
