The GAMeC – Galleria d’Arte Moderna e Contemporanea di Bergamo – proposes to enhance, improve and promote the heritage of the Accademia Carrara on the twentieth century, organize activities and events that foster cultural promotion of high quality, and be a point of reference for contemporary art in Italy and abroad.
GAMeC actively collaborates with museums and international contemporary art institutions. Collaborations include the SMAK in Gent, the Fundación PROA of Buenos Aires, the Kunsthaus Bregenz, Musée national d’art moderne – Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris, the CIAP – Centre International d’Art du Paysage & Ile de Vassivière, the Malmö Konsthall Malmö and Műcsarnok Kunsthalle Budapest.
It is also the promoter and founder of the hammock, an association that brings together the most important contemporary art museums for Italians.
