Founded in 1999 in the suburbs of Paris in a former notary’s 19th century villa, La Galerie is a non profit contemporary art centre. After Hélène Chouteau (1998-2004), Marianne Lanavère who was appointed director in 2005 curates all exhibitions except those for which an annual guest curator is invited to work on.

La Galerie offers a broad public a programme based on art as a sensory experience and a reflection of its relationship with the world. The centre’s main activities are to produce art works, publish bilingual reference publications, host artists and curators in residence and develop educational activities in relation to the artistic program.

La Galerie presents approximately five exhibitions a year; two monographic, two thematic, and one educational.
