RADAR was a project involving six cities in six European countries with the aim of working through contemporary arts towards higher social integration within European cities. The project was born out of cooperation amongst private and public institutions in Venice, Krakow, Plovdiv, Athens, Weimar, Lewisham, one of the boroughs of Greater London. It was supported by the European Commission Directorate-General Education and Culture.
The participating artists worked in two phases. During the first phase, they worked in Venice for a period of approximately three months, where they had a chance to immerse themselves in the realities of Venice and its hinterland. In the second phase, they worked in smaller groups in the five other cities, undertaking a similar approach as during the first phase while putting to fruition individual and collective lessons and experience gained throughout the process.
