For Immediate Release:

e-flux is pleased to present do it (home version), curated by Hans Ulrich Obrist. do it is the third in a series of projects with artists and curators featured on our site since last year. Our past projects include: 101 Art Ideas You Can Do Yourself, by Rob Pruitt and 100% Free - Mejor Vida Corporation, by Minerva Cuevas.

do it is an autonomous show that exists as a growing set of artist's instructions -- (in)formation to be actualized by an interested audience, and capable of taking place simultaneously in many locations in a myriad of permutations. This online edition of do it is a practical utopian show. Should you decide to partake in it, segments of it can materialize in your home, office or any other place you may find appropriate. It is also an online compendium of artists' writings; a 'webzine' containing fascinating essays on the peculiar subject of artworks in the form of instructions and experimental exhibitions, as well as an informal community of people interested in such subjects.

do it (home version) is concerned with the at-home use of artists' do-it-yourself instructions. "What interested me is a hypothetical and playful notion of dispersion, and the potential of an art exhibition to extend beyond its traditional limits. Thus arose the idea of a do it home version in the form of an interactive book and a Web site with texts for home use," says Mr. Obrist, "As I write, I have received approximately two hundred contributions from all over the world, from artists, philosophers, scientists, poets, and musicians, sixty of which are included in this first stage of the exhibition and are intended for you to enact at home."

Throughout its duration at e-flux, the contents of do it will grow exponentially. Starting with this first installment of works by over 60 artists - many new instructions, essays, interviews as well as feedback from the audience will be added regularly to the site.
