MACO | MEXICO ARTE CONTEMPORANEO, the mexican contemporary art fair will take place for the first time in Mexico City from May 12 to 16, 2004.
MACO | MEXICO ARTE CONTEMPORANEO will count with the attendance of international contemporary art galleries which will be selected by an international committee of reknowned gallerists and will be located in the main section of the fair.
NEW PROPOSALS section will present young galleries with emerging artists which will be selected by a specific committee.
Local and international magazines and publications related with contemporary art will be included in another section.
The INTERNATIONAL COLLECTORS PROGRAM will be organized by Untitled Art Consulting's team, company based in Madrid, and directed by Pablo del Val. Fifty collectors from the five continents (private and responsibles of museum and coorporate collections) will be invited to a social-cultural program. The objective of this program is the interrelatinon in every moment between the participating galleries, local and international collectors and curators.
The venue chosen for the fair, Centro de Negocios y Comercio de la Ciudad de Mexico is located in the heart of the city, one block from Reforma Avenue, the Angel Square and the Zona Rosa. Exhibitors will be concentrated in this convention hall with more than 7.000sqm divided in 5 floors.
W Hotel Mexico City which recently opened will be the official hotel for the art fair and is located in the heart of Polanco, one of the most important tourist locations in the city where most important museums are close by.
The main objective of MACO | MEXICO ARTE CONTEMPORANEO is to promote collecting, the internationalization of contemporary art in our country and the interrelation between mexican collectors, foreign collectors, curators, galleries and institutions.
