Art in General presents Alberto Casado's first solo exhibition in the US, curated by executive director Holly Block. Casado's vibrant artworks combine traditional Cuban craft techniques with contemporary religious, cultural, and political references. Considered to be the conscience of the Cuban artworld, Casado tackles sensitive subject matter in his work, addressing artistic censorship under Fidel Castro, the popularity of the lottery among the poor, and the history of U.S./Cuba relations.

The exhibition is accompanied by a bilingual Spanish/English catalog with 24 color images and essays by Holly Block and noted poet and art critic Orlando Hernandez.
