Gwangju Design Biennale 2005
The city of Gwangju is proud to be hosting a major international event, the Gwangju Design Biennale 2005, with the purpose of exploring the vibrant emerging culture and world of design at the dawn of the 21st Century. The First Gwangju Design Biennale, following the Design Pre-Biennale hosted last year, is a global design festival based on the theme of "Light into Life" and seeks to delve, from various perspectives, into the values of Asian design and culture, and to probe numerous intriguing aspects of design and its possible effect on future human life. Objectives Lighting a Beacon: Design for the Future This event envisions delineating the value of design and the breadth and potential of Asian design, as well as actingas an epicenter for future world design development. The Biennale also hopes to foster Korea's unique design industry through setting new paradigms for life and designinthe 21st Century.
