View the work of 15 artists in their private studios at 120 Broadway--a continuation of our innovative site-oriented residency program held in former locations such as the landmark Woolworth Building and LMCC's World Views residency program in the World Trade Center. LMCC/Workspace encourages an artistic, political, and theoretical consideration of location and context. By positioning artists in Lower Manhattan LMCC creates ties between the arts and business communities while furthering our goal to create a critical mass of creative production at the forefront of New York's contemporary arts scene. Program of Accompanying Events: Friday, April 22; 6-8 PM Public preview and opening reception - meet the artists-in-residence and preview their work. Friday, April 22; 8-10 PM Come for the artists; stay for the party Saturday, April 23, 2PM Neighborhood tours - one hour guided tours presented with Downtown Arts Projects. Leaving from and returning to 120 Broadway, 8th Floor Studios Each Tour is limited to 25 people and operates on a first come, first serve basis. ..:: City Hall and Tribeca with Tom Eccles Tom Eccles will lead a tour of Julian Opie's sculpture exhibition at City Hall Park along with other sites in and around Tribeca. ..:: World Financial Center and Battery Park City with Matthew Higgs Matthew Higgs tour will explore some of the art environs of the World Financial Center and Battery Park City area. ..:: Maiden Lane to Beekman Street with Simon Watson Simon Watson will tour sites of artistic creativity in the area between Maiden Lane and Beekman Street, including the Ann Carlson and Mary Ellen Strom's CAke (Collecting Action and Knowledge about the Everyday), part of LMCC's MOVE:133 Beekman Performance Residency ..:: Wall Street to Fulton Street with Lydia Yee Lydia Yee tour will visit the studios of some of her fellow Fulton Street residents, and look at the new Nancy Burson project, LOOKING UP, at 60 Wall Street. Saturday, April 23, 4PM Reading by writer-in-residence, Emily Reardon and others Sunday, April 24, 2 PM Guided studio tour with Resident Director Erin Donelley Subway/Bus: 2, 3, 4, 5 to Wall St 1, 9, R, W to Rector St Space generously donated by Silverstein Properties with lead support from JPMorgan Chase. |
