ART BASEL - THE MECCA OF THE ART WORLD FOR THE 30TH TIME...
Art 30 Basel will take place for the 30th time from 16th to 21st of June, 1999. Two hundred and seventy one galleries from Europe, North and South America, Asia, and Australia are participating. They will present nearly 5000 works by more than 1000 artists from every period of 20th century art.

Special exhibits will present one-person shows by young artists, media and video based works, classical photography, printed graphics and oversized sculpture. The successful tradition of special sections at Art Basel, which promote young art and still insufficiently established areas of art, will be continued:
In Art Statements;, 26 individual exhibitions by young artists are on display. Art Video Forum; provides a platform for art using video and new forms of electronic media. Art Photography; brings together leading dealers of classical photography, while international editors show their printed graphics in Art Edition;. 35 oversize sculptures and installations can be seen in Art Sculpture;. In Art Magazine;, art publications from all over the world introduce themselves. The Art Film; sector will be celebrating its premiere in the evenings in the Stadtkino of the Kunsthalle Basel where new film productions by artists will receive an optimal platform, film and video scenes from San Francisco to Sarajevo will be introduced and movies about artists will be shown. The Art Film section has been newly created with features by and about artists. Numerous events will also be taking place in the city's many cultural institutions in conjunction with Art 30 Basel. Art collectors, gallery owners, artists, curators and art lovers from all over the world will meet at Art Basel for the 30th time in June.
Art 30 Basel is open daily from 16th to 21st of June 1999, from 11 to 20 h (on the last day until 18 h). The Vernissage for invited guests will take place the evening before, on 15 June. Entrance to the fair will cost CHF 25, students and senior citizens will pay CHF 10.-, from 17 h an evening ticket can be bought for CHF 5. A newly designed catalogue has been published for Art 30 Basel and can be purchased from May onwards at a price of CHF 35.- (for orders: tel. 49 89 12 69 90 46).
