Annika Ström sneak launches Bonniers Konsthall, April 30 - May 28. Annika Ström has been invited to create text-based works for the public advertisement spaces in Stockholm. The texts will also be spread via SMS. Annika Ström works with painting, video, and music. She regularly holds concerts and has come out with three albums. Her video works often focus on personal, everyday habits and social behaviour. Ström has previously worked with painted text works commenting on the inadequacies of everyday life, spiritual anguish, and the paradoxes of art life with a characteristic tinge of subtle humour. Annika Ström was born in Sweden in 1964, and lives and works in England and Berlin. The SMS messages will be created in cooperation with Bonnier Mobile Services. Where: billboards throughout Stockholm. When: April 30 - May 28. ___________________________________________________________________ Gabriel Lester sneak launches Bonniers Konsthall, April 5 30. Gabriel Lester has been invited to Bonniers Konsthall to work with the entire glass façade of the building. Specifically for Bonniers Konsthall, Lester has created the new large scale video installation Seen, with six scenes that will activate the entire façade. Seen Playtime where pedestrians, walking down a street, peer into a modernist building and observe the tenants. Lester lives and works in New York and Brussels. Where: The façade of Bonniers Konsthall, Torsgatan 19. When: April 5 30, 8 - 12 pm. Daria Martin sneak launches Bonniers Konsthall, April 26. Daria Martin has been invited to screen and introduce the films Soft Materials and Wintergarden. This will be the first time Martins films are shown in Sweden. Her films can be described as total artworks where music, clothes, set design, and dance work together. Martin lives and works in London. Where: Biografen Sture, Birger Jarlsgatan 41. When: April 26. Soft Materials was commissioned by The Showroom, London. ___________________________________________________________________ Bonniers Konsthall is a new venue for Swedish and international contemporary art in the centre of Stockholm. The exhibition venues transparent, triangular building on Torsgatan was designed by Johan Celsing Arkitektkontor. Bonniers Konsthall aims at introducing new art and supporting emerging artists. With a program of exhibitions, artist talks, seminars, publications, artist-in-residence studio, and other activities, Bonniers Konsthall has committed itself to support contemporary art. Bonniers Konsthall has its origins in the Maria Bonnier Dahlin Foundation, established in 1985 by Jeanette Bonnier in memory of her daughter Maria. The foundation awards annual grants to young Swedish artists. Jeanette Bonnier is the founder of Bonniers Konsthall which is run by the Bonnier family within the framework of The Bonnier Group. The Bonnier Group is one of Scandinavias largest media groups, comprising companies involved in newspapers, magazines, books, film and television. The owner, the Bonnier family, has supported art and culture for over two centuries. The founding of Bonniers Konsthall is a continuation of this tradition.
