Saturday 2 December 2006 Inter-discipline or Non-discipline? discusses various interpretations of the so-called interdisciplinary approach in contemporary art and its position within other disciplinary knowledge systems. 16.00 hrs Lectures, with contributions by: Lonnie van Brummelen & Siebren de Haan, artists, Amsterdam; Mariana Castillo Deball, artist, Amsterdam, Berlin, Mexico City; Bruno Latour, philosopher, sociologist, curator, Paris. 19.00 hrs Break 20.00 hrs Anne van der Zwaag, art historian, introduces and reads from a selection of artists books. Saturday 9 December 2006 Unclaimed Knowledge explores how marginalized knowledge is shaped into new forms (artistic knowledge, non-knowledge) through contemporary art practices, and looks at the particular role of the visual in these practices. 16.00 hrs Lectures, with contributions by: Thierry de Duve, art theoretician, Brussels; Sven Lütticken, art critic and art historian, Amsterdam; Eva Meyer & Eran Schaerf, philosopher and artist, Berlin. 19.00 hrs Break 20.00 hrs Performance by artist Claire Harvey and screening of video documentation of a performance by choreographer Ivana Müller. Saturday 16 December 2006 Artists as (Public) Intellectuals considers how the definition of the term intellectual in a broader sense might be expanded by thinking of artists as knowledge producers and thus as a type of intellectual, and discusses the ethical, political, and social implications of defining artists in this way. 16.00 hrs Lectures, with contributions by: Andrea Geyer, artist, New York; Georg Schöllhammer, art critic and editor, Vienna; Seçil Yersel, artist, Istanbul. 19.00 hrs Break 20.00 hrs Screening of filmmaker and writer Trinh T. Minh-has most recent film followed by a public reading of one of her texts.
