One time glossy edition of Z-Magazine:
portraits of homeless Z-vendors in Amsterdam by 30 photographers and
writers
Tuesday June 25th at 5 pm a one time glossy edition of Z Magazine will
be
presented at Pompoen Theatre, Spuistraat 2 in Amsterdam. This special
edition features the vendors of Z magazine, the newspaper for and
distributed by the homeless in Amsterdam.
Portraits of Z vendors have been made especially for this occasion by
thirty prominent photographers and writers. The result is a probing
report
of the daily life of the homeless newspaper vendors in Amsterdam. The
special edition, published in separate Dutch and English editions, will
be
accompanied by an exhibition. From June 25 till July 9 a selection of
the
portraits will be on display in the various shop windows in the
Spuistraat
in Amsterdam. This exhibition will travel to London later this year.
The project - the glossy magazine, the exhibition and the publicity
campaign around the events - was initiated and produced by
communications
agency Gummo from Amsterdam, and intends to generate publicity for Z
Magazine. The theme of the project is the 'pride' of the homeless Z
vendors. They sell their newspapers on the streets and have been
confronted lately with strongly decreasing sales figures. The project is
meant to encourage them and to promote the sales of their newspaper.
This one time glossy edition is available at bookshops and newsstands,
and will also be sold by the Z vendors themselves. It has 88 pages
printed
full colour and costs 7,50. All sales will benefit Z Foundation.
