The Centre for Film and Media Studies (CFMS) in the Faculty of Humanities wishes to appoint a suitable candidate to the above post to oversee its flagship undergraduate Screen Production Programme.
Requirements include:
• A Master’s level qualification is a minimum, while a PhD or significant progress towards the completion of a PhD would be desirable.
• Active research interests as evidenced by conference attendance and/or publications and/or creative output
• Experience in teaching foundational screen production skills in fiction filmmaking at undergraduate level
• Experience in teaching academic courses in film and television studies to large and small groups and supervision of creative and research projects.
The following will be advantageous:
• Experience in networking with industry professionals who could contribute to screen production training in the Centre for Film and Media Studies
• The ability to promote the African Cinema Unit and the UCT TV Studio.
Responsibilities include:
• Overseeing the undergraduate screen production stream from a selection of students to supervising their final senior research projects.
• Contributing to teaching in the Major in Film and Television Studies and to postgraduate courses in Film and Television Studies
• Undertaking research in Film and Television Studies.
The annual remuneration package, including benefits for 2011, is R403 124. Application process:
