Skissernas Museum’s most recent extension is from the year 2005. The Museum is under the auspicious of Lund University’s special activities.
The task of the Museum is, for example:
To develop the Museum’s activities with the creative process and the importance of the sketch, as a point of departure.
To arrange temporary exhibitions within the subject area of the Museum.
To initiate, partake, and cooperate in research and education within Lund University.
To publicize material related to the Museum’s field of competence.
To make parts of the collection accessible through permanent exhibitions.
To collect, preserve, protect, and document works of art within the field of the Museum.
The Director of the Museum is the Manager who leads the whole organization. The Director is responsible for realizing the Museum’s specified goals and is the person who reports to the Board of the Museum.
The position of Museum Director is full-time and is limited to a period of six years, with the possibility of an extension within the framework of permanent employment, in Lund University. The post requires the qualities of good leadership and the capacity to engage, infuse enthusiasm, and create a feeling of work satisfaction. The person we seek should possess the qualities of a good planner; a broad cultural interest, and proposals of how a Museum should develop. A PhD in Art History or other documented scientific competence within the field, related to the collections is a merit, as is an extensive knowledge of contemporary art. In the event that the applicant has a good network even in the international sector of the world of art and culture – this would also be of importance. The Director of the Museum would also be expected to further cooperation internally within Lund University and externally with both national and international art circles. Experience of work within the context of museums is of great significance for the position.
