The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts’ Schools of Visual Arts invites applications for a professor in time-based media to be filled on January 1, 2007. The object of the position is to strengthen research and education within fields such as, for instance, film, performance, sound art or internet art. The professor’s school might choose, from among several possibilities, the problem of narrativity and history representation as its focus. The position is a four fifth part-time professor. A one fifth part-time guest professorship attached to the professor’s school will later be announced for one year at a time.

As professor of one of the eight professor’s schools you are responsible for the herein enrolled students’ normal education during their third to sixth year of study, just as you are responsible for the annual budget for the realization of the practical and theoretical teaching.

The appointee must be a visual artist with a significant artistic production. It is a condition of appointment that the applicant is on a recognized high level within contemporary art and has a marked exhibition profile.

Theoretical knowledge of the subject field and/or practical experience with education of art on a high level is a prerequisite of appointment.

Being a professor, you further attend to the administrative work of the school and participate in the work of both councils and committees as well as perform administrative.

The application must contain a satisfactory account of the applicant’s:

1. Views on art;

2. Artistic production;

3. Experience with communication and his/her pedagogical qualifications.

4. Further it is expected that the applicant gives an account of his/her ideas of the possible development of the professor’s school – for choice in connection with one or more of the other schools – during the time of employment, including an account of the organization of the education.

A CV and a list of enclosed documentation, if any, must be enclosed in the application. Documentation may take the form of photos/dias/CD-ROM of own works/projects, videos, articles, publications etc.

The position is to be filled for a fixed term of up to 6 years. Appointment is on a group contract basis, unless the appointee is already employed as a public servant. The professor is paid a pensionable basic salary of 474.766 DKK (as regards a five fifth position). The position is granted a pensionable fixed-term employment bonus to be determined through negotiations between the Ministry of Culture and the legitimate negotiating organization of the appointee. A further allowance may be granted through negotiations between the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts’ Schools of Visual Arts and the legitimate negotiating organization of the appointee.
