As an educational leader and visionary industry partner in the areas of Broadcasting and Film, Digital Animation and New Media Design, The Centre for Creative Communications, Centennial College in Canada will be adding an exciting new program in the rapidly evolving area of game design.
In September 2006, Centennial College will launch the Game Design Development program, as a part of the Integrated Media Department, at the Centre for Creative Communications, Centennial’s award-winning and state-of-the-art communications, media and design campus in mid-town Toronto, Canada.
“As the unprecedented growth of the game design industry in Canada, and around the world, continues to revolutionize modern media and entertainment, new career opportunities are emerging for artists and imaginative thinkers,” says Nate Horowitz, Dean, School of Communications, Media and Design.
“Toronto is a fantastic place for game designers and this program will focus on the creative and the storytelling aspects of the next generation games, while providing hands-on technical skills training in our game labs,” he says.
Developed by game artists and industry professionals, the Game Design Development program’s project-based curriculum will be complemented by an eight-week Industry Field Placement, and students will work with industry-standard 3D software and game engines.
As well, students will work both individually and in collaboration to complete a series of projects, culminating in the creation of their own Game Level project that can be used for their professional portfolios.
