University Professor with focus on Video and Video-Installation
at the Institute of Fine Arts. This professorship is appointed for a period of 4 years beginning with September 20th 2006 with the possibility of extension (reference number 14/2006).
This professorship will be established at the Institute of Fine Arts to develop a concentration in this field as well as to enlarge the spectrum of artistic disciplines at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna. Since this professorship is the result of a rededication of the former subject Expanded Artistic Environment, the applicant is expected to consider the adjustment of this artistic profile and to advise the students in this field accordingly. The applicants are expected to have excellent artistic qualification in the relevant field having special regard to a work concept that reflects media guidelines in a formal as well as methodological way. In terms of a transdisciplinary art term references to other disciplines, media and genres should be considered.
Requirements for both applications:
•an appropriate degree of an Austrian or equivalent foreign university (or artistic qualification that may be considered equivalent);
•proof of artistic qualification and international exhibition activity;
•proof of pedagogic and didactic qualities;
•competence to hold a chair and of contributing to the development of the arts and sciences by promoting the Academy’s research activities;
•willingness to contribute in university agendas and to cooperate with colleagues is implied.
Teaching obligations include 17 artistic individual tuition units a week and the leadership of the appropriate class at the Institute of Fine Arts.
