Retroperspective
Architecture projects in a historic context
May 1–October 26, 2017
Abt-Placidus-Much-Straße 1
3591 Altenburg
Austria
In terms of their thematic focus, the projects by Jabornegg & Pálffy presented in Altenburg Abbey are devoted above all to the examination of historic building fabric. This particular area of building has formed a constant aspect of the work of Jabornegg & Pálffy since 1992. 41 models in the exhibition deal with this theme. Currently, the general renovation of the Austrian Parliament represents a further such project.
Each project is extensively documented through a series of models in which the individual phases of construction are summarized and can be easily followed. Although the projects can be allocated to very different kinds of functions, their positioning within a historical context remains a common denominator.
Beyond the boundaries of a model, the adaptation of Altenburg Abbey offers an exemplary summary of the planning method of Jabornegg & Pálffy and allows it to be experienced in a concrete fashion.
Guided tours with Jabornegg & Pálffy will take place on June 24 and September 16 from 3–4pm. Registration with email is requested: kultur.tourismus [at] stift-altenburg.at
The exhibition is accompanied by a German and English audio guide for smartphone or tablet. For more info, click here.
