Pane Per Poveri is pleased to announce the Berlin premiere of L’Uomo del Pane, a film directed by Hanna Hildebrand and produced by Matthew Antezzo.
Pane Per Poveri was first realized in Venice, Lido in May 2015 during the opening days of the 56th Venice Biennale, in the striking location of the Teatro Marinoni, set within the derelict “Hospital by the Sea” complex.
Pane Per Poveri is a temporary art project organized by a group of Berlin artists and curators who wish to experiment with different forms of contemporary art events. Considering that art can exist apart from rules and established structures, it is the ambition of the PPP project to foster this freedom and to create a place where not only the production of art, but also its presentation and perception can abide with the least restrictions possible.
The entire process has been a long, exciting, and generative development of ideas, confrontations and afterthoughts. The project that took place in Venice followed an organic road though performances, interventions, music and actions that involved many artists, as well as the participation of those who attended.
These 72 hours—that were the frame during which Pane Per Poveri was making its history—is the conceptual setting of another artwork. During the days in Lido, Hanna Hildebrand and Matthew Antezzo captured performances, interviewed participating artists and documented the artworks that were part of the project. But most of all, they were able to follow the process during its evolution, with no filters and no script. The result of this footage is a film by two artists about what happened in Lido during that unique moment of experimentation.
As initially designed, Istanbul was chosen to be the second destination of the project.
During the preview of the 14th Istanbul Biennale, PPP premiered the film L’Uomo del Pane, as part of S.I.N.E., hosted by Sylvia Kouvali.
